A good home is the product of thought and planning.  There are many excellent resources available to guide homeowners through the process of buying, building or renovating a home. These sources give homeowners a leg up in creating the highest quality homes within their budgets. The American Institute of Architects offers guidance not only on how best to select an architect, but also how best to manage the entire residential construction process. A good home is a healthy home, and two examples of websites that offer solid advice on how to create sustainable living environments are the Home Safe Environmental and the U.S. Green Building Council. The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s website is another useful reference teaching homeowners how to establish a sound financial strategy. Finally, CORA is an advocacy group in its infancy established to benefit all homeowners by raising the bar for residential design. Although the organization is young, its members are ambitious and committed; this site is worth keeping an eye on in the years to come.
